Lucy and Waffles' Medical Bill Fund

Donation protected
So, I've gone back and forth on whether or not to ask for help on this. I honestly feel terrible doing so. One of the things that I have always prided myself on, was being able to provide what my dogs need. I have a care credit card specifically to help out with unexpected medical expenses for our animals. I thought I was prepared. However, this week has been especially rough on our babies and us, and I feel like we are starting to run out of options. If swallowing my pride and asking for help will get them what they need, than it is more than worth it. I truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this, share it, or consider donating.

On Wednesday, August 1st, we took two of our dogs, Lucy (6-year old beagle) and Waffles (4-year old border collie) to the vet due to excessive vomiting and diarrhea. Lucy had actually started vomiting that Sunday, but after being placed on a bland diet (reccomended by our family vet) she seemed to be doing okay over the next couple of days. They both ate breakfast that day, but that afternoon Lucy began vomiting again along with Waffles. By the time evening came, they had each vomited at least 3-4 times. We took them to the emergency vet that evening around 7:00pm where they ran bloodwork and labs and administered anti-nausea medication and fluids. They Diagnosed them with Gastroenteritis and sent us home with medications for both dogs. This visit total was $915.36.

When we returned home, Waffles seemed to be improving and keeping her medications down. Lucy however was unable to keep anything down, including her oral medications. She began having blood in her stool and vomit so we returned once again to the emergency vet. They gave her an injectable antiemetic that was supposed to stop her from being able to vomit and hospitalized her until the next morning. They ruled out obstructions and parasites, as well as Parvo and are now calling it HGE or Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. They allowed us to bring her home this morning for continued observation and instructed us to return if the blood in her stool increased or if she vomited again. This visit totaled $371.93.

With new meds in-hand, I was relieved to take her home. However, after only being home for a few hours, she began vomiting and became incontinent with an increased amount of blood in her vomit and stool. (I'm sorry for the gruesome details, I swear this is as nice as I can put it.) We immediately returned to the emergency vet. Lucy is currently hospitalized with IV fluids and medications, and 24/7 care. She is being transferred in the morning to an internal medicine specialist to have an abdominal ultrasound done as well as some extra bloodwork and labs. To begin this treatment, we had to place a deposit of $2200 down and are expecting it to cost between $1000-$1300 more according to our estimate from the ER when all is said and done. At this point, my care credit card is maxed out, and I was denied a credit-limit increase. I'm not sure what to do at this point, but this dog is my baby! She has rescued me more times than I can count, and I have to do anything that I can to save her. Any little bit will help immensely in relieving some of these medical expenses. I cannot thank you enough for just taking the time to read this. If you cannot donate, I completely understand. If you feel so kind as to share this or pass it along, I would be so grateful and I know that Lucy would be also. I tried to include some of my favorite photos of her. I hope you will enjoy them as well.
