Fundraising Day for Yale Rugby Club Tour to Tokyo and Hong Kong!
UPDATE: I've reached my $500 target so will be doing my challenge later today. I am still accepting donations to support the team's fundraising efforts so my goal has been increased to $750.
Hi all, my goal is to raise $500 (I accept £ and € too, fret not) over the course of Thursday 26th October 2017. If I reach my target amount I will be dyeing my hair bright BLUE at the end of the day - pictures of which will follow.
N.B. - fundraising will continue beyond the 26th but if it completed by the end of the day (EST) then I will dye my hair blue!
WHY? Yale Rugby Club will be going on a tour to Hong Kong and Tokyo in March 2018. This is a two-week-long tour where we will train alongside international teams, participate in events leading up to the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, and build relationships with local rugby clubs, schools, colleges. Although we have received a number of generations donations from alumni, we are tasked with raising over $30,000 in order to fund the trip's expenses and sponsor students who may not otherwise be able to afford to go. There have been several successful trips to New Zealand for a few individual players over their summers and this time the tour will include the entire squad.
This year I am playing outside centre (#13) on Yale's team. As a freshman student at Yale, this is my first year on the Yale Rugby team and this tour will be a fantastic way for me to improve my skills as well as becoming further involved with the squad.
Your donation would mean everything to me personally, my teammates, and the many coaches who have fully dedicated themselves to developing this team. Further, you will receive updates from the tour, including videos of our day-to-day training and daily recaps of our adventures from the tour-scribe.
Even if you have little or no interest in rugby, then please consider donating as your contribution could result in my looking like this over the next few weeks, (including at my college formal):
