Love for Jayden

My grandson Jayden at age 5 months was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma cancer that was January 2013. The tumor was located in his left side of his face. He had a port inserted in his chest in preparation of him receiving chemo therapy. He then started right after his port placement witch was in February 2013. He did chemo once a week. Come June of 2013 thru August of 2013 he was in and out of the hospital for cellulitis and  continued his chemo. Throughout his chemo he has had CT, Mri and bone scans every 6 weeks. In October 2013 the doctors started talking about radiation treatments for the cancer to try and get it under control. In November 2013 he traveled to Jacksonville FL for a consultation with the doctor at the Proton Radiation   Center. At that time he got sick the first night we were there, we had to rush him to the hospital. He had a bad virus so what was supposed to be a 2 day trip turned into a week. In December 2013 he began his 28 radiation treatments. He received the treatments 5 days a week thru the middle of January 2014. Six weeks after he finished in Jacksonville they did more scans saw a spot in his lungs. They did a biopsy that came back scar tissue. They said he was good and he could be considered on remission. A few weeks after that he went back for a check up scan to make sure all was good.  They found more spots in his lungs and said there was no way that it could be scar tissue. They said it was more tumors. So they started chemo again just a different type that they said was  stronger. In October of 2014 they sent him to Winston-Salem to get a PET scan to get a better look at the cancer. It showed more spots in his neck chest and face. The doctors continued him on chemo. In January of 2015 more scans were done and it was determined that his cancer was not reacting to the chemo treatments. The tumors in his chest were growing and he now has a tumor by his heart about the size of his heart and it is growing rapidly. The doctor said they could give him a pill that would slow the cancer but not cure or shrink the tumors. They do not know any other chemo treatment that would work. It was discussed that possibly at Saint Jude they might have a possible study drug that might benefit Jayden. We are hoping that they will have something to help him.
