Help Bits & Bobs Fund For Ren Fest

$755 of $5,000 goal

Where do I begin.... Well, to start off, I have been accepted to be a vendor at the 2015 Texas Renaissance Festival.  Wow!  They like my work... they really like my work ;)

Now... the other stuff... I have always had a passion for art, creating things and repurposing old forgotten things. About 20 or so years ago, I took a stained glass class and fell in love. What started out as a tinkering with stained glass morphed into making small ornaments, blending stained glass techniques and collage. Now, Bits & Bobs has become an eclectic mix of found vintage/antique bits mixed with soldered glass techniques... a little bit of leather and copper thrown in for good measure... giving old things a new story and life.

Bit & Bobs was kind of a side project to give me a creative outlet while I worked being an event coordinator and executive director for a local non-profit.  After 14 years working for this same company, in December of 2013 I lost my job.  I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to grow Bits & Bobs into more than just a "hobby".  Last year I spent a lot of time doing small shows in the Houston area, learning the ropes, so to speak.

This year I have booked bigger shows, shows that are more fitting for my type of work, with the right demographic.  These bigger shows are not cheap.... especially the Ren Fest.  But, this is shove I need to really get going, spread the word about and grow Bits & Bobs.  My goal, and my dream for many years, is to eventually have my own store front... not just to sell my wares, but to have a makers shop that focuses on local artisans and hosts classes to teach others a craft.

The money I am asking for is to help with the substantial booth fee, building my booth, costumes, supplies to make enough inventory for such a huge event, packaging supplies, a tablet for point of sales, building a web site, business card, banners, etc.

I thank you for your time and consideration and any dollar amount is very much appreciated!

Lorraine

4 weeks until opening weekend.... that's 30 days... What???!!! Stress level MIDNIGHT!

A couple of weekends ago, we got my structure set up in my booth location at the Festival (see picture). Now, we are working on my display "tables". We decided on using antique dressers for this. My handsome fella and I have been searching for said dressers... we have procured a few. We are planning on hunting for the remaining 2 or 3 this weekend. We are waiting for my canopy to get made... Was told, yesterday, that it is going to be weeks before it is done.... WEEKS????

Still need to make my parade/shop banner, get business cards, build up inventory... and the list goes on.

If you feel compelled to help with any of the following, I would be grateful...
Business License
Insurance
Parade/shop banner
Packaging/Wrapping Items
Supplies: solder, copper foil, chain, glass, bits for the bobs, etc.
Canvas, grommets and lathing strips for booth side panels
Glue, paint and hardware to repair dressers
and more....

If you would rather do it via gift cards... Home Depot, Hobby Lobby (supplies), Etsy (supplies), Uline (packaging supplies)... would be wonderful.

Or.... shopping in my Etsy shop helps, too... You can visit www.etsy.com/shop/LorrainesBitsAndBobs

I would like to thank the companies that have helped by sponsoring me with their products:
Majestic Velvets for the skirts
Jana Thomas/Bella Rossa Salon for making my hair beautiful
BlackCrownLab for my business cards

Thank you to all that have already donated!

This weekend we.... and by "we" I mean the two handsome fellas in the photos: my husband, Bryan, and our very good friend, Matt. I was the official water and tool getter... got the main structure started. The roof rafters will be completed this evening (fingers crossed). They worked through the rain, heat and humidity. Once the rafters are in place, tonight, the fella that will be making the canopy will come and take measurements (tomorrow). Then it will all be disassembled and taken up to my booth location. There, we will build my deck and reassemble the structure.

It's really pretty cool being able to see it all come together.... Being able to see it translated from a 1 dimensional drawing to real life.... being able to stand inside it and see the space I will have to work in. It's all becoming so real. So exciting. Only SEVEN weeks until opening weekend.... (what????!!!!)

Still so much to do...
Business License
Insurance
Banner
Business Cards
Packaging/Wrapping Items
Supplies: solder, copper foil, chain, glass, bits for the bobs, etc.
Decking Material
Paint for the Deck
Sealer for the Structure
and more....

If you feel so compelled to help me along my journey through a donation or by sharing my campaign, I would be so grateful.

Thank you! <3

Update!

Hello All!
We are just shy of 2 months until the Ren Fest opens.... Holy crow!
Good news! My booth plans have been approved... YAY!! I finally feel like I can move forward. I have picked out my canopy roof color and placed the order. The roof alone is $1000... yep... sigh. We will start building the booth very soon... I will post a video or at least some photos as we go.

I've been doing shows here and there. They haven't been profitable, but I'm having a great time talking to folks and sharing my work with them. I have a couple more shows booked, but will stop at the beginning of September in order to focus on the Festival.

There are so many more things that I still need... business cards, packaging supplies, business license (per Todd Mission, TX), wood for the build, paint for the deck, and most importantly supplies to make more Bits & Bobs. If you feel compelled, please share this with your friends.

Please take a look at the updated donation incentives... I will get some photos posted ASAP... The t-shirts and bags are going to be AMAZING!

You can always check out my Etsy page or my Facebook to shop or just to have a look around.
