LPGA Dream

I started playing golf when I was 7 years old. I would attend my golf lessons wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey, with the hopes of one day playing in the NHL. The true Canadian dream. I would repeatedly tell my golf instructor that Golf was just for a fun, a summer past time. But as I continued to fall in love with the game of golf, it became clear to me that this was what I was meant to do.

As I reflect on the past two years of my life, I have come so far as a golf professional. I qualified for the 2017 LPGA Canadian Open last year at the Ottawa Hunt Golf Club. I recently made it to the second stage of qualifying school for the LPGA tour. These accomplishments were completed while balancing a full time job as an assistant golf professional at St.George’s Golf and Country Club.

The reality of my recent successes will entail playing on the LPGA tour or on the Symetra Tour in 2019. I have decided to start a GoFundMe campaign in the hopes of raising $10,000 for the upcoming 2019 season. This will go a long way in helping me advance my professional career, as it will be used to offset the costs of travel, accommodation, tournament entry fees, caddies and equipment.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I would first like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their amazing support over these past couple of weeks. Having the opportunity to fully pursue my dreams was a truly incredible experience, and would not have been possible without the efforts and contributions of so many. This experience has made me eager to help others pursue their dreams the way that you have all helped me.

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to compete in the second stage of LPGA Tour Q-School. Although I do not get to continue onto third stage, I am looking forward to my first year on the Symetra Tour. I will find out my status next Friday.

Looking back on the week, I feel that second stage was all about perseverance. I was proud that I stayed patient every day, especially after troublesome holes. I also felt that my game stacked up against the best players in the field. My putting and short game improved as the week went on, and I felt that I stayed within every shot consistently. Moving forward, I hope to improve on minimizing my mistakes (in other words, taking my medicine when needed!) My tendency is to try shots that are of the “risk-reward nature,” instead of the conservative, stress-free, no gray hairs (sorry dad!) shots.

My score over the 4 days was: 77-71-73-76

To improve my game and take important next steps for future professional events, I have decided that I will be joining a gym and hope to attend yoga class to improve my stability and flexibility. I will also be working indoors on my golf game as the weather becomes cooler. I will be looking to travel in the new year to help prepare for the 2019 season.
