Ashley Rose Dahlberg's water broke almost 14 weeks before Loyal's due date (May 4th). The hospital did all they could, hoping Ashley could hold on to her 2nd (high risk) pregnancy, for a minimum of 3 weeks. Unfortunately, because Ashley had Placental Abruption; four days later she had an emergency C-section. Loyal was born 13 weeks early (Feb. 4, 2017), 2lbs, 2ozs. and began the fight of his little life. Erik & Ashley Dahlberg had no idea about the emotional, uncontrollable rollercoster ride they were about to begin...
In the weeks that followed, Loyal was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and Pulmonary Valve Stenosis (PVS); among other issues he is having...Apnea & Bradycardia a/k/a A's & B's (absense of breathing for more than 20 seconds/decreased heart rate) See Loyal's journey on Facebook. His stay in the NICU (where he is, still) has surpassed the $110K mark. The invoices have started to roll in and Erik & Ashley are looking at close to $40K out of pocket! (more, if Loyal needs heart surgery).
To add to their emotional drain, Erik's truck started on fire and is undriveable. They have to take turns visiting Loyal at present.
