Little Lincoln James was welcomed into the world on Saturday March 21st at 12:59pm. He was 5 weeks 1 day early weighing in at 4lbs 13oz and 17.5 in long. He has a skin condition called Ichthyosis, which is a family of genetic skin disorders characterized by dry, scaling skin that is thickened. There are many different strands of ichthyosis and we still have yet to find out.
Many, many, of you have helped in tremendous ways, I am completely blown away by the community of people we have had, that have offered to help us get through this time with donating money, love, time and prayers for Lincoln.
As you know we previously had a go fund me page for Lincoln. We had $7,250 raised out of the 8,000!! I really only thought we would reach maybe $200.
UPDATE ON LINCOLN
He is 5 months old now!! I can’t believe it’s been five months since he embraced us, we have still yet to pay off all his medical expenses, to be honest we owe $7,950. We paid what we could with the last Gofund Me and now we are making monthly payments.
Lincoln’s skin is uhh… let’s just say unpredictable. One day he looks amazing, and the next his little ankles are cracking and bleeding. We were blessed with the MicroSilk tub and that has helped tremendously!
As some of you may know he recently went under to get his ears clean, the ear doc recommends we come every 6 weeks to get his ears cleaned and 1 time a year to go under for a deep cleaning.
Many people have approached me and have asked how they can still help! Our everyday with Lincoln is pretty expensive plus his frequent doctors’ visits and extra formula I have to purchase.
Lincoln currently has to see the following doctors for his care:
Dermatologist- 2 x a month
Pediatrician- 1 x month
Eye doctor-1 x month
Children’s Hospital-
Ear doctor- Every 6 weeks, 1 x a year under anesthesia
Physical Therapy-1 x week
We use the following on his skin:
Vaseline -4 pack /$41 every 2 weeks
Artificial tears- 12 pack/438 1 x month
Formula ( he burns so many calories making skin that we need to supplement breastmilk so he gets enough calories)- $25 /every 2 weeks
Cerave Lotion- $13.99 / 1 x week
Organic healing balm-$13/ 1 x week
California Baby wash -$18.95/ every 2 weeks
Coconut Oil- $15/ 1 x month
So far this is what we have been buying and it has helped us manage Lincoln’s skin to our best ability. Our Electrical bill has significantly gone up since we have been running the LARGE size humidifier in his room for his comfort.
And as you can tell he has a ton of doctors’ appointments that we take him to and the gas adds up! We also buy him special clothes and blankets so he doesn’t overheat.
The total a month for the skin care is around $330. If we didn’t have all your donations we would be struggling pretty badly. Good thing we have a God that loves us deeply and has brought this community around us to care for little Lincoln so well!
