Loving Lindsey

$21,105 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 334 people in 52 months
Lindsey is a 1st-grade teacher at Hoffmann Lane Elementary in New Braunfels, Texas.  She is married and the mother of two young boys.  One of her students, Matthew, has been on a donor list waiting for a kidney for over a year.  Last fall, Lindsey decided she wanted to be tested as a possible donor for Matthew.  More than 70 people came forward to be tested to try to help him.  Amazingly, after extensive testing, Lindsey was found to be the only perfect match. With her family's support, Lindsey has made the decision to donate her kidney to Matthew.  Although most of the expense of the hospital stay will be covered,  she will have to take personal leave during her recovery, which will take at least 3-4 weeks after the surgery.   During her recovery, she will not  be able to physically care for her family.  We are raising money to help supplement her salary, provide meals, fund transportation to and from doctors visits, clean her home and help with miscellaneous medical expenses that may not be covered by insurance.  Lindsey is giving Matthew a chance at a brighter future with this selfless act; we want to give her whatever she needs.

We have almost reached our goal! We are so very thankful to everyone who has so generously donated to help Lindsey! Lindsey and Matthew have been in the international spotlight with media in the United Kingdom, France, Australia and all over the United States publishing their story. The surgery is scheduled for mid-March and we will keep this Gofundme account open until that time. We hope to have enough funds so that Lindsey and her family won't have to worry about anything during her recovery. Thank you to everyone who has helped us!

I would suggest that you put her full name, Lindsey Painter, on the page a couple of times. That way when people Google "Lindsey Painter" or Lindsey Painter GoFundMe" they can find this page. I had a hard time finding this page.

Y'all!!! Please do this! Go to Ellen DeGeneres' NOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THEIR INCREDIBLE KINDNESS. I just nominated her. If we all flood Ellen with nominations, maybe Ellen will help! http://www.ellentv.com/be-on-the-show/682/ I do not know Lindsey, never heard of her until right now. But as a former public school teacher, I am floored by this story. What teacher gives away a kidney to a student! THIS IS AMAZING!!!! If you cannot help financially, you CAN nominate her to Ellen. Please go do it.
