Help Fund Kids Books About Trees

As a certified arborist and a tree advocate, I have been spreading the word about protecting and maintaining mature trees as a valuable resource for many years.
Trees are one of the few things that do a better job as they get larger and older. It became clear that it is important to educate and influence children about the importance of trees- to get them interested in protecting trees. Children are the future - we need them in this challenge.
Children are constantly bombarded with the idea of being a great music idol or an athlete - but why not try to get kids interested in being an arborist or just developing a love of trees? Why not share something that fits in with STEM and is attainable and critical to our planets' survival!
In my work with school children about nature, I began to develop short stories that revolve around a 5 year old named Jake as a way of teaching them about the importance of mature trees. Jake's father is an arborist. Each story provides fun facts and education through Jake's adventures in learning about nature, trees and arboriculture.
My stories are developed in a way that young children can understand them, yet provides enough history and facts that adults and educators learn, too. My Jake stories inject lessons about trees that will have a lifelong impact on the readers and our planet. My knowledge of tree care, from over 20 years experience, is the basis for these stories.
Jake's adventures are informative, humorous and real. While there are no zombies in the Jake stories - there is plenty of excitement in learning how trees provide oxygen, shade and food!
Our goal is funding this project is to cover the costs of developing illustrations (work is being donated-yeah!) but we want to fund, paper, ink and markers.
Additionally, we want to be able to publish the stories both digitally and in print to be distributed to home schoolers, public and private school educators at a low or no cost.
