If ever there was a woman who epitomized the caring loving soul that you wanted to be, there is this woman: Lauren Irving.
And there is a cancer that is so evil, that it took a ray of her sunshine and threatened the happiness and joy that exudes within her family.
Lauren's husband,Brian, was diagnosed with Melanoma. He was a caring father, husband and friend. He was a patented engineer and fabulous woodworker. On November 16th, Brian passed away from complications of metastatic melanoma. Lauren and Brian were married for 19 years, but regardless, Brian was been taken from his loves too soon.
Lauren has touched hundreds of lives in Orange County, NC. I am sure, as sure as I am in the sun coming up tomorrow, that she has touched hundreds of lives outside of Orange County too. Throughout the almost ten years that I have known Lauren, she has given her time and energy to Girl Scouts. She is the captain of the GS Troop 1274 ship, a GS County participant/leader/volunteer, a teacher of outdoor skills, volunteer, training, and maybe her favorite - archer. She has taught my young ladies to be kind and firm, and confident. And that's only 2 of the girls that within our troop. She's volunteered at Pathways Elementary, CW Stanford Middle, and Orange. She's donated time, energy and items to help others because that's who she is.
We would like to take this opportunity to show Lauren and her family a bit of love. Love in a more tangible way - but it is love. Please support this campaign to raise monies for Lauren and her family to deal with outstanding medical bills, support of the girls as they grow into amazing ladies with dreams of their own, and to provide a bit of stability in their life.
And if you don't have money to give, then make sure you take time each year to have your skin checked. Melanoma is an awful and horrific cancer that is swift and cruel.
