Shelter Saved/Winter Relief Fund

We have great news that we are no longer facing foreclosure. We are still in great need for the cold, rainy winter months we are facing ahead. We are asking that you please consider supporting this great need. Please read the following testimony of a former resident that we served as a child and we hope you will find it in your heart to support the work we do.
Ladonna Morning

Hello my name is La Donna and I remember being 8 years old and me and my mom living at Love-A-Child Missions. It truly saved me and my mom's life. If it wasn't for Love-A-Child Missions, I don't know where my mom and I would have gone. There are no places that will go above and beyond to make a child feel safe and a drug addicted mother feel like life is worth living. I am now 29 years old with children of my own. This place can, in no way, go away. They have been open since 1984 and have helped thousands, if not millions, of women and children at their worse of worse times. Love-A-Child gave me and my mother a place to live, clothes, food and was where I gave myself to the lord. They were the foundation of my faith but Love-A-Child is so much more than a "shelter." It is a home, a place where some child might have their very first Christmas or birthday acknowledged; a place where they will find love and value for themselves; a place where they will have a chance to experience something that is so special I cannot put into words. Like I said, I am 29 and it has been over 20 years since I was blessed to have Love-A-Child Missions be a part of my life and will always have a place held dearly in my heart.

Brief History

Love-A-Child Missions is a ministry started in 1984
that was quickly turned into a homeless shelter for women and children with an inspiration from GOD to, as Jerome Knott stated, “use him as HE wished”. A weekly children’s ministry was started then, with mostly fatherless children that were being raised by single mothers. Weekly events included swimming, hiking, camping and good clean fun outside of the drug infested neighborhoods they were living in. Love-A-Child’s signet scripture is found in James 1:27 “Pure Religion and undefiled before GOD the Father is this, helping the fatherless and the widows in their afflictions.” We have been successful in meeting this need for the last 32 years consecutively. In the last 25 years, we have been able to successfully provide emergency recovery shelter for approximately 9,500 homeless women and children of the Bay Area.
