BUY A YARD SIGN AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR LOCAL FOOD IN ATHOL AND ORANGE

As of June 14, we're taking this year's campaign to the streets--specifically, your street!

As we continue to work on improving signage and awareness for the Athol and Orange Farmers Markets and Quabbin Harvest Coop, we're inviting supporters and fans of the local food economy to join in by buying an individual yard sign (or more than one) to display at your home or business. We'd love to see these signs popping up all around Athol and Orange over the next few weeks!

To order, you just need to do two things:

1) Make a donation here to help cover the cost of the sign (suggested donation $15-20 per sign)

2) Post a comment below to tell us which sign(s) you'd like and how to contact you. You can also email [email redacted] if you'd prefer.

Signs will be available for pickup at Quabbin Harvest (12 North Main St, Orange) starting on June 24. If you can't get to the coop, we'll figure out another way to get your sign(s) to you.

The beautiful designs are by Amy Borezo. The signs are being printed locally by Lyman Signs.

OVERALL CAMPAIGN

We're building on the success of last year's fundraiser, which helped produce the 2016 "Food from the North Quabbin" brochure and other promotional materials. This year we're hoping to raise enough money to cover three things:

   * the 2017 edition of the "Food from the North Quabbin" brochure
   * printing and framing of a new set of farmer portraits from Oliver Scott Photography , to be displayed in the Athol Public Library's gallery during May 2017 and in other area venues in the following months
   * and some new yard signs to draw attention to the Athol and Orange Farmers Markets and Quabbin Harvest Coop

Our overall PR campaign this year is called "Lots More Local." We want to let more people know how much local food we actually produce in our area, and how it strengthens our local economy when people support locally-owned food businesses.

We have some seed money from the New England Grassroots Environment Fund and the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival Community Grantmaking program, which we're very grateful for!

If you're wondering how much to give, here are some suggestions:

   * $15 will buy one new yard sign
   * $40 will pay for the printing and framing of one beautiful farmer portrait by Oliver Scott
   * $65 will pay for a bundle of 50 food brochures to be distributed at area stores, pubs, libraries, and farms

And if you're wondering who we are, we are GOALFM - "Grow Orange and Athol Local Food Markets," a working group of farmers and friends that emerged from conversations at the Greater Quabbin Food Alliance about how to support and revitalize our local farmers markets.

Your support will help us spread the word about local food and celebrate our farmers and small food businesses!
