Lorelei’s Josie
Donation protected
Josie a beautiful three year old chocolate miniature dachshund & my best friend, my roommate & most importantly my emotional support dog. Josie brings love & joy to every person she knows, even those she just meets! Josie has just moved into advanced obedience training & we love to hike & kayak together.
On May 8th I came home to find Josie’s face all swollen, thinking she’d been bit by a bug we (the vet & I)treated her with an antihistamine. The next day she showed sign of improvement. That improvement was short lived. Suddenly that evening her face broke out in large lesions & I immediately contacted our vet. Still thinking this condition was due to an insect bite the vet put her on an antibiotic & an anti inflammatory. Sunday morning we woke to find lesions spreading all over her belly. At the emergency vet appointment Josie had more lesions appear in her ears & at the base of her tail. After a biopsy & much study we now know Josie is suffering from an immune disease called Pemphigus Foliaceus. Josie’s immune system is attacking her own dermis.
Vet bills for this visit are already $400! Being a disabled person I am trying to think of any way I can raise money to help treat Josie. This disease could be under control quickly, in five months or it may be a lifetime of care. We are all praying for a quick recovery. Josie has shown signs of improvement overnight, the lesions haven’t continued to spread, we are hopeful that the steroids will be the cure.
This world is a joyous place with my Josie in it & keeping it that way is my goal for this Go Fund Me Account.
My unending thanks & gratitude to those who would even say a prayer for Josie, let alone offer a donation!
