Holden Connor was engaged in three ongoing research projects through the University of Manitoba. One of them is a prospective cohort study of people who participate in medical interventions to transition gender. We are following people from the beginning of the process until 12 months post-surgery, measuring psychosocial outcomes (mental health, minority stress, and quality of life). This research is the most in-depth that has been conducted longitudinally, and will address gaps in knowledge for service provision and inform health policy.
The Holden Connor Memorial Fund will ensure people of trans experience receive monetary compensation for their labour on these studies.
The trans community lost a mentor, advocate, human rights champion and genuinely loving human being.
We are all truly devastated.
Holden was so very patient, kind and generous with his time and whatever resources he had available. When Holden began his advocacy adventure with Trans Manitoba, he was all in. We are all so lucky and grateful for the time he spent working with us. Thank you Holden.
