News Now Network:  For Citizens, by Citizens.

For Citizens, by Citizens.
News Now Network offers professional & volunteer journalism in the Eastern Ontario gateway county of Northumberland. News Now Network focuses on local events and people delivering local news and stories via multiple online platforms unique to each community.

News Now Network is like a newspaper but as paper is no longer part of the process, we consider ourselves more like a magazine. An online, daily magazine that keeps citizens informed about upcoming and occurring events as well as offering well-written coverage of the personalities and issues of Northumberland.

Re-Imagining The Gathering and
Sharing of Community News

In early December 2017, a historic and well-loved Northumberland daily newspaper that had been operating for 180 years closed as a result of the ongoing disruption in the newspaper industry. While the paradigm for the gathering and sharing news will continue to shift, we at News Now Network believe we have the best answer for getting intensely local news out to the the small towns of Northumberland and greater community.

A Community Voice Northumberland for a $1 a week.

We offer Northumberland citizens an exciting online news resource which is uniquely tailored to each community but easily accessible by all communities.

Towns and their townships are not treated as silos but as spokes of the Northumberland community connected through the news gathering and sharing hub of NNN.

We have been working on our community magazines, seeing what works and what doesn’t for several years.

Part of our vision to engage with citizens as we adapt to the new paradigm of news delivery, envisages citizens participating in the process by sponsoring their local news media platform.

With sponsorship, we foresee an increased capacity to gather and share the events and stories of Northumberland, so with that, we ask you:

Can you afford $1 a week for a year to access local news coverage?

If you can spend $52 a YEAR for freshly gathered local news, please donate to our mission today.

Our Mission & Model
The objective of the News Now Network is to increase our coverage in each community and facilitate the communication between communities. This means more news.

More listings. More Photos. More interviews. More sharing. We want our communities to know more about themselves. More knowledgeable citizens mean better communities.

We pay for much of what we gather. As a responsible organization accountable to our communities, we feel this fair but we need funding. The corporate newspaper model that relied exclusively on high fees for single entry advertisements is no longer feasible except for population centres of significant size. Everyone benefits when all join in.

Be part of this. Get on board with us, with our talented writers and photographers, the small business owners that are already helping us and the community stakeholders that have shown their support, help News Now Network get the news and stories out to the awesome communities of Northumberland.

Online & Social Media Savvy
Our websites use professional tools with fully-responsive and optimized website platforms.
More than the 40% of users access our online sites via a mobile device or tablet. Our sites are fully indexed and search-able via the meta data content:

We offer:
- Mobile-optimized Online Magazines
- Facebook & Twitter Feeds
- Professional Journalists
- Easy to use format
- Local coverage for ALL of Northumberland County

The keys to success are tied to creating and curating a website that is also an indexed and search-able database which can grow to become a "go to" portal for important local news and information, entertainment, business and role stories and much more. We need citizen investment for this to happen.

So, we ask again:
Can you afford afford $1 a week for a year to access local news coverage?

If you can spend $52 a YEAR for fresh local news, please donate to our mission today.
