Local business owner blindsided by stroke

Donation protected
On October 12th while driving home from my daughter's school football game Eric started having stroke symptoms. He asked if his face looked twisted and began flexing his right hand. I told him to "pull over right now". As we switched seats, his body was leaning to one side. When we arrived at the hospital emergency room, Eric could move his body enough to get in the wheelchair. The few short minutes from the door to the bed of the ER, Eric could no longer speak. Less than 10 minutes later, he lay nearly paralyzed, eyes gazed. CT scan showed a mass of blood on his brain. My best friend since 1989, my husband since 1992, the father of our two children, a business owner since age 16 ( yes Eric started Sho Off Car Wash at 16), was rapidly fading from a stroke. I felt helpless as I agreed to a surgery that MIGHT save his life.

So talented, always sharing words of advise ( I call him the counselor), Eric was always determined to keep our business in the community. He helped many through SLDC ( St. Louis Development Corporation) write proposals to start their business. He was known as "The Tiger Woods of Realestate" by many. And has been a bank manager and opened branches for Scott Credit Union and there is so much more to tell about this dedicated father, husband, son, entrepreneur, friend, counselor and confidant to so many.

Eric has aphasia in which words he expresses don't match what he is saying. He is right handed and his right side is the affected side.

As a small business owner, our insurance does not cover the extent of his medical bills and ongoing therapy Eric will need.

Eric grew Sho Off Car Wash to encompass all facets of auto detailing. And he personally did it all ( and trained so many). Unfortunately, we don't have anyone outside of myself ( his wife) who can perform the high end services leaving a large gap in our income.

As his wife, I'm reaching out for anyone who can help as a physical, occupational and speech therapist.

As an alumni of Lutheran High School North, Eric recently helped fund the girls basketball banquet to celebrate their achievements and success. Eric was awarded 2018 business of the year for the 18th ward, and was unable to attend to accept this award due to his stroke.
