Living and Medical Expenses for Amy

Donation protected
We are requesting help toward living and medical expenses during a mental health crisis.

Amy has returned home (March 30) after being hospitalized almost 3 weeks for a suicidal psychosis (a sudden mental illness making part of her brain want to end her life). She was on 24-hour watch in a psychiatric ward while its incredible staff tried to figure out what medications would work.

This medication trial and error is still in progress. We are taking one day at a time.

$50,000 would: provide much of what we will owe toward treating this mental illness;

get us caught up on our living expenses (we have been far behind on mortgage, etc. since Amy was hospitalized for colitis last year);

and help us through the next few months (we'll both be working much less as we continue to figure out Amy's meds and needs).

We will pay whatever remains from our medical expenses using payment plans (we will owe a total of about $45,000 toward invoices associated with Amy's mental illness including her long psychiatric ward stay; plus ~$18,000 for Amy's colitis stay). These payment plans will be easier to manage once our living expenses are under control.

To provide more information, while Amy was in the psychiatric ward she wrote about her experience (I typed this for her); then she used much of this narrative to help her with a blog post:
