The mission of Anuttara ashram has been to provide a space to live, learn and grow, through yoga and meditation, in the spirit of selfless service.
Since 2009, we have been a running a donation based karma yoga program which we have seen transform people, into stronger, happier and more peaceful beings. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch anxiety, depression, anger and a general dis-ease minimize in all those who come to the ashram.
As the years have gone by, the demand has grown and we're having more and more people come to the ashram. We have continued to share our family sized kitchen (12 x 20) with hundreds of people and are increasingly seeing the demand for a larger space.
With the hectic lifestyles that society needs us to live,
people need more spaces like the anuttara ashram to find peace, quiet, personal time and to reconnect with ourselves and nature.
We offer donation based yoga classes, workshops, and retreats; making yoga accessible and affordable to all. Every year we give scholarships to dozens of people so that they may live, learn and grow in yoga for free!
The ashram is humbly built and located off-grid; it is our home which we have opened to all to come, to share and to discover. We feed them with our home grown vegetables and whatever else we can afford. We do our best to accommodate everyone in dorms that we have built on the property but space is limited.
The Dining Hall will provide space for more people than ever before to come and experience the yogic lifestyle, developing tangible life skills, while promoting health and wellbeing. Your donation will mean nobody will have to be turned away because of lack of space!
This hall will be an important step for our community, as it will have all the facilities we will need, including a rain collection system, showers, kitchen, eating area, hangout space, cellar, washer and dryer and it will be built out of natural and recycled materials!
It is a post and beam structure harvested locally from our property and the nearby leftovers of the clear cut lands, we have thus far and plan to continue on making this building from natural materials as much as possible.
Our project has been ongoing for some time and almost completely donation based. We ourselves have been putting any income we've made towards this building for the last 2 years.
Our posts and beams from timbers cut from our own property are up! The roof is on! Almost all windows and doors have been hung, which were all recycled from local buildings. We have put all of the straw bales in place and have begun to put in place the wood chip/clay slip wall fill, and covered that with lime.
We still need to finish the walls, put in a floor, plumbing, electricity and of course the bathroom and kitchen will take some work.
