Fighter. Strong. Tough. Determined. Strong-willed. Confident. Blessed.
Nicole McGuinness suffered 3 seizures within 12 hours on December 22nd, 2015. Two days later, Christmas Eve 2015, Nicole underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain at Duke University. January 2016, Nicole, her family and friends learned the tumor was a grade 4 Glioblastoma. After 6 weeks of daily chemotherapy (Temodar) and daily radiation, Nicole was missing over 1/4 of her hair (from the radiation) and exhausted from chemo. In March of 2016, Nicole began her clinical trial, Elevate, at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, which will conclude February 2017. She also continues 5 days of chemo per month until May 2017.
Nicole has had 7 MRI's since her surgery in December 2015. While she has scar tissue, which is to be expected after brain surgery, she has NO tumor! A year without a reoccurence is the biggest blessing the McGuinness family could ask for. Christmas 2016 was the most special and cherished yet!
Nicole is ever grateful for her family and friends. She is blessed by the support, encouragement, gifts, laughter, fellowship, faith, wisdom, courage, shenanigans, meals, cards, flowers, understanding, notes, friendship, but most of all- the prayers.
These funds will be used for medical bills, medications, chemotherapy, as well as food, lodging, and travel to Durham. Nicole has recently opted to stop working and apply for disability. She was not able to spend 100% of her energy on her recovery and 100% on her new job (that she was hired for a week to the day before the seizures). She was very sad to accept this fact, but understands that recovery is more important than anything and plans to volunteer in the area.
Nicole is so blessed and thankful for your support to help her through this battle. She will win this war!
Nicole if you could get ahold of me I'm interested in donating just not on here.
I wish I was able to donate right now but I can't but I can say a prayer and continued prayers for you since your dad told me the news! I ask about you every time I see him! You are always in my prayers! You are a strong woman!
