Litisha Marzon’s 2nd Opinion @ Mayo Clinic

This Go Fund Me benefits:  Litisha Marzon

My name is Litisha Marzon, I’m 29 years old.  I have a beautiful blended family with the love of her life, Jordan Kekino.  I have 2 biological children, Serenity and Talon-Kassle and am stepmother to twin boys Kayden and Jayden.  While this all seems normal so far, what some of you may not know is that I live everyday life with a blood disease called Essential Thrombocythemia(ET).

I recently finally got a referral to get a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.  Mayo Clinic specializes in treating rare and complex conditions. Due to the location of Mayo Clinic and being that she’s from Maui, a donation in any amount would be appreciated.  Your donation will be used towards transportation (plane tickets to and from) and medical bills.  It’s unclear as to how long I will need to stay in Arizona (or how often I will need to return for follow ups), but I  will do whatever it takes to get a second opinion for my health and for my family.

Background:
I was diagnosed with ET in November 2016 and started treatment almost immediately.  Essential Thrombocythemia is a chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) characterized by and increased number of platelets in the blood.  Approximately half of all ET patients have a mutation of the JAKS gene in their blood forming cells.  This mutation leads to hyperactive JAK (Janus kinase) signaling.  This causes the body to make the wrong number of blood cells.  A normal persons functioning body produces platelets within the 150,000-450,000 range.  I over produce platelet to the point where my counts were in the millions but are currently at 978,000.  My platelet count hasn’t been normal since my diagnosis.  Her treatment includes low-dose aspirin, hydroxyurea (anti-cancer chemotherapy drug) and anagrelide (platelet-reducing Drug).  I have  endured 2 bone marrow biopsies. In rare cases Essential Thrombocythemia can transform into either primary myelofibrosis or acute myeloid leukemia.

I may  look healthy, I walk/run, exercise and may have been your partner in the gym, but I live with a blood disease that is invisible to those who don’t know me.  Due to my condition and it’s treatment, I also have a sensitivity to sun light.  Like any mother, I’m just trying to live my life to the fullest and be there for my children and keep up with them.  We are extremely appreciative of your support and potential donation to get the second opinion I so desperately need.  If you would like to donate Hawaiian Miles that would help as well. My info is as follows: Litisha Marzon #352098066.  I thank you, my children thank you and our family thanks you.

Please keep me, Litisha Marzon in your prayers and please show your support by sharing my story.
