Save the LU web spread

The Literary Underground was founded in 2010 when it was decided to start a small press/underground wiki, collecting information on writers, presses and publishers and how they're connected. It took months to set-up the mediawiki platform and then again many more months and volunteers to fill it with articles. Through the years and all the various projects that the LU has undertaken (Citizens for Decent Literature Press, Project U Radio, lit events all across the country, a source of publishing information and resources...), the Wiki has remained a favorite, even cropping up as a source of information for academic papers (ha!).

It seems fitting to start this fundraiser on Valentine's Day. The Literary Underground and most especially the Wiki has always been my love letter to the underground...the ways and means to acknowledge, inspect, appreciate, and in the interest of furthering this beautiful network of DIYers and their committment to subversive lit and all that that encompasses.

The Citizens website went down first, back in November. When the main LU site's payment came due on Feb 4., realizing once again that I could not pay it myself, I decided to let it go, pull the info from the site's folders and put it up on a free hosting platform as best I could. Unfortunately, the company that holds those files are super quick to freeze access when you don't pay on time. It's a real pickle. and, honestly--I don't have it in me to start all over again so I leave it up to the literary community. If you have some bucks to toss in, we can keep it going. The "writing tips" for the Go Fund Me say to tell you how much this means to me... I'm not sure how to say that. Though the occasions may be rare, when it does happen that I get to see the impact of what the LU has done, has influenced--it is the very best feeling. Stack up all the zines, books, letters, the people, the places, the things it brings in the way only the underground can bring it...hell, I don't want to stop. Just need a little help now and then. How much I'd be thankful about that is unmeasurable.

We need $80 to get the Citizens website back, $130 to cover the main web hosting fees and another $55 for the combined domain registration costs.
