Lisa's FMLA Fund

On Februrary 22nd my mom, Lisa, and my stepdad, John, were planning to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Early that morning she woke up with pain in her chest and arm. Miraculously, John was home later than usual due to scheduled training at his work. He was able to quickly call 911 and paramedics arrived to transport her to the hospital.

She was rushed to the hospital where they inserted a stent to open her arteries and allow blood to pump through her again.

After everything was said and done, doctors told her she had suffered a "Widowmaker " heart attack. Survivability is only 10% or 1 out of every 10 people.

John being home and being calling 911 fast enough gave her a second chance that few people receive. He truly saved her life.

Her heart ended up being 20% damaged but she's still with us.

Late the night of April 28th I received text messages from her that she was experiencing chest pain again.  She called John who was dealing with my cousin's vehicle being stolen. John rushed home and made that second 911 call. Paramedics came to the house and transported mom to the hospital once again.

As it turned out, she was having a second heart attack.  A cath revealed the cause of the heart attacks were not artery blockages but the artery physically collapsing on itself. This time the collapse was occurring right below the stent rendering it useless.

She was scheduled for open heart surgery with Dr. Palmer on February 5th.  My aunt, uncle, John, and I took the day off to be with her the day of the surgery. They put her under and her double bypass surgery turned into a triple bypass as they decided to remove her stent and route around the original artery completely. She quickly moved out of cardiac ICU and by Tuesday she was back home with the family.

During this whole experience John has been missing work to be with my mom. She is now on bed rest for six weeks with limited mobility. He has been using FMLA to protect his job while dealing with everything but unfortunately it does not cover any loss of income. John is the sole provider for their family so being unable to work means no money is coming into the house.

Over the past few months I've helped as much as I can financially. Unfortunately, my resources are limited so I'm turning to our family and friends to help cover four to six weeks of expenses.

Anything you can provide will help ensure bills are met and everyone is fed. Knowing there is money in the bank will allow John to focus on helping my mom on her recovery journey.

Anything we can receive from friends and family is greatly appreciate. Thank you all for your love and support.
