Lisa and Peter's Harvey Rescue Fund

Donation protected
My Unicycle riding, bird rescuing niece, Lisa Miller Caday and her husband Peter Caday are just today (August 29th) traveling back from Portland, OR to their soggy home in Houston, Texas.  They fear they have lost pretty much everything.  They live along a bayou that was hard hit by Hurricane Harvey and live in possibly the lowest house on their street.  When they moved into this little WW2 cottage they had worked hard to paint, fix up, and dry out the place, as it had had about an inch of water in it and sat empty for 2 months before they moved in.  It seems it rains and floods a lot in Houston.  Go figure.

Lisa and Peter stopped by to visit me, Aunt Sharon, here aka Sharon ODonnell,in Beaverton, OR when they were here on a scheduled visit to see the Solar Eclipse.  Unfortunately, their visit also coincided with Hurricane Harvey.  So while they were visiting with me, Peter was on the phone talking and texting to neighbors and friends who were in and out of their home raising up bird cages, laptops, books, etc. (Lisa’s pet rats are missing, their cage floated up and they escaped.  We are hoping they show up later, hungry but alive.  A kindly neighbor moved Lisa’s car to another driveway, but it wasn’t enough.  It has water in it now.  Peter’s car was left at the Austin Airport where they flew out of so they will have wheels.
Per their mother, Tina Miller, my youngest sister, Lisa and Peter had rationed the BB&Y gift cards they got for their wedding, looking forward to getting something special for themselves.  Now Lisa is hoping she can FIND the gift cards AND that they are still usable.   They will come in handy when it comes time to replace all the appliances, bedding, etc.  Think of your home.  Everything from counter height down, soaking in water for a week or more.

The last word was that they have several offers to bunk with friends until their living situation can be resolved.  Peter can work remotely, he has just gotten a 6 month extension on his 2 year post Doctorate Position at Rice University so they will be staying at least until January.  But they will need to recreate all the necessities of living.  If you can help please donate to the Peter and Lisa Recovery Effort.  The funds raised will go towards replacing their electronics, furniture that has been ruined and clothes.  These funds will be given/turned over directly to Lisa and Peter.  We wish them well and hope for their future

This is a photo that has gone viral...NO, it's not Lisa but this is the exit they take to their home.
