Lindsey's Ironman Quest for Belle

Donation protected
I am competing in Ironman Wales, in September 2018.  I would love all your support, encouragement and donations to help me raise money for a fabulous cause.  Many of you know how much I've enjoyed running, and training already but in all honesty, I'm an accidental triathlete, so you will understand how passionate I am about completing this challenge - it's a pretty big challenge mentally as well as physically.

I am raising funds to help support our amazing friend Belle Curran.  Belle is 9 years old and is on the waiting list for a lung transplant from GOSH.  My friendship with Belle's mum Stella is really important to me and I want to do anything I can to help make their journey easier. You can follow Belle's story on Belles Story  facebook page.

I have been a member of Haverfordwest Ladies Circle for over 10 years and this year we are working on a number of fundraising events to support the inspirational Belle.  As I am challenging myself to one of the most challenging physical events I have ever undertaken, it seemed fitting that any money I raise goes towards Belle's Story, as Belle is facing tremendous physical challenges every day.

The intention with Belle's Story is to raise money to support a number of charities that life-saving support, advice, care and respite to Belle and her amazing family, as well as funds for items that Belle may need to help her on her journey.  It was Belle's idea to give back to those that help her and she would love to help other children and their families in similar situations.  Belle is keen to gift a portion of the money raised to Puffin Ward at Withybush Hospital, Noah's Ark Children's Hospital, Ty Hafan, Great Ormand Street Hospital (Heart & Lungs), and Make-A-Wish, as they've all made such a difference to her and her family.

Belle has an interstitial lung disease.   This means her lungs are not spongey like ours, they are stiff and hard - and very scarred from the condition, it makes breathing a huge effort so she pants very quickly all the time, probably 3 times faster than other children. As you can imagine this is exhausting so she had relied on an electric wheelchair for the last two years to get about and the condition also uses up masses of calories which then cause the issue of weight loss. Belle takes lots of steroids every day, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, anti acid, vitamin D, and various puffers.  These all help to soften the lungs but have side effects too - one being the loss of appetite.  Belle has required oxygen 24/7 for over a year now which has its difficulties but Belle takes it all in her stride and continues smiling,  despite the restrictions this places on her every day.

Please please support me in my fundraising and donate as much as you can to help support Belle.  Every penny received will be used to help make Belle and other children like her more comfortable and happy, it will be so appreciated.
