On April 23, 2017, my husband Paul and I lost our 5th wheel along with most of our belongings inside to a horrible fire. He had just taken me to work at 1800 and went to the store to pick up some items for us as we had just arrived 5 days prior. It wasn't more than 2 hours later that he received a devastating phone call. Flames were reported to have been 10 to 15 feet high, and it was a total loss. With the quick response from Anaheim Fire Department, along with the kindness of residents in the park, the neighboring RVs were spared and thankfully no one was hurt.
I have been a nurse for 8 years. It has always been a dream of mine to live in a trailer with the one I love and be able to work in emergency departments across the country. We just got married on March 11 and this was my first job assignment that we took our older (1990) but very loved 5th wheel to. We lost most of our belongings in the fire, including all of my scrubs, our clothing, photos, our laptop, and important certificates and documents among much more. Those items that weren't burned to a crisp had too much smoke damage done to be salvaged. Unfortunately, I had not insured it yet and had plans to call my insurance agent and add it to my plan that very next day. Any amount donation is greatly appreciated to help us get back on our feet so our dream can continue to be a possibility.
The cause of the fire was determined by the fire investigator to be more than likely an electrical issue and arson was ruled out.
