The Lindsborg Svensk Folkdräkt is a collection of Swedish Folk costumes designed by Tara Killingsworth and Carla J. Wilson. The collection has been proclaimed by Mayor Becky Anderson as, the Lindsborg Community Swedish Folk Costume. All the details of the costume – fabrics, cuts, trims, head wear and buttons – tell a vivid story of Lindsborg’s Swedish American heritage. The community had a part in the design by choosing the colors for the collection through a random Facebook survey. The collection includes a costume for men, women, boys, and girls.
To benefit the Lindsborg community as a whole, we are asking for your donations to pay for the production of patterns. This will allow home sewing patterns to be available to the community.
To have the patterns available by January of 2019, in preparation of the 150th celebration of Lindborg, production cost funds must be raise by July 15th.
A community costume that is uniquely Lindsborg will enhance, strengthen, and preserve our Swedish heritage. Your support will allow the costumes to be available to the community for Lindsborg’s 150th anniversary.
The work of designing this costume has meant more to Carla and Tara than just designing interesting articles of clothing. It is meant to be a gift to the community that celebrates the arts, culture, and living heritage in Lindsborg. It cannot be understated how much we appreciate your gracious donation, you are helping our labor of love live on in Lindsborg.
