Linda went to the ER right before Thanksgiving with extreme hip pain only to find out she had lesions on her hip bone and a mass in her lungs. She was soon diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell Adenocarcinoma lung cancer. We have since learned that the cancer has spread to her hip, lymph nodes, and started to spread to her brain. She has completed 2 rounds of radiation, which seems to have reduced the spots on her brain but not worked so well on her hip. We are hoping her body will respond well to chemo treatments to try to slow the cancer down.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Its been awhile since we posted an update, and a lot has happened since that has kept us very busy! My mom had her hip replacement at regions on Feb 14th and that went great. The new hip was a great improvement to her pain situation in the right hip bone. She was up and moving some with her walker right away and was then transported to Hammond nursing home for rehabilitation about a week later.
It took a couple days at first at the nursing home to get medication/pain management correct after some miscommunication from regions, but she was kept fairly comfortable and alert once that was figured out, which gave us the blessing of having some good quality time spent with her.
That comfort did not last long for her unfortunately. She has not had a scan in awhile, but has an upcoming oncologist appt tomorrow that we were waiting to find out about hopefully starting chemo after recovering from surgery, but we are certain that the cancer has rapidly spread into the rest of her bones. She now has excruciating pain in her back that radiates through all of her bones in her body and that keeps her bed ridden. She can not tolerate sitting up at all, which makes it impossible to transport her to her oncologist appt tomorrow. Her pain has weakened her substantially, so it seems chemo probably isn't an option now because her body wouldn't handle it. She has also developed a terrible cough that we found out yesterday, after a chest x-ray, is pneumonia. She is now on strong doses of antibiotics for that. Our priority now is to keep her as comfortable as we can, so doctors increased medication yesterday for pain management which makes her pretty sleepy all the time.
I cannot thank you all enough for the love, kind words, prayers, and donations through this very difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Please continue to keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers.

Linda had the hip replacement surgery yesterday at regions and everything went very smoothly. They were able to also remove some of the tumor in her hip as well. She was in a lot of pain when she woke up from surgery, but finally has the pain under control this morning. The plan today is to get her out of bed and start some physical therapy. Thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and kind words! Please continue to pray for fast healing and smooth recovery for my mom so that she can have less pain to be able to do more things she loves and enjoy life. I will continue to post progress!
