Update: the strike begins Monday, February 11th. All donations will be split evenly across the 24 striking Lincoln teachers. Please join the Lincoln Elementary Community Facebook page to see other opportunities to help supply food for the teachers and paras.

Original email sent on January 30th:

Hi Superintendent Cordova and DPS Board,
A group of fourteen families at Lincoln Elementary have come together to start a strike fund. We already have verbal commitments totaling $8,000 that will go to Lincoln teachers if they strike. We expect this number to grow as we open it to more Lincoln families.

The teacher turnover rate at Lincoln has been low the last few years compared to the rest of DPS -- we want it to stay that way. We do not want the DCTA to take anything less than their current proposal. DPS needs to allocate the remaining $8M difference in proposals to teacher compensation by eliminating administrative bonuses ($4.4M last school year) and further cutting administrative positions to be inline with comparable school districts in Colorado.

We hope DPS does the right thing to avoid a strike. If you decide to stand by heavy administration and bonuses, then we will support the teachers by paying them during a strike.

Sincerely,
The Baldermann/Kenreichs, Schumachers, O'Dwyers, Whalens, Ballengers, O'Donnells, Hartmans, Goodwin/Wienges, Cummings, Williams, Huffs, Murphys, Namoffs, Goodmans
