Townsend Detachment #920 of the Marine Corps League is a not-for-profit Veterans Service Organization dedicated to helping Marines and their families -- Marines Helping Marines.
On January 4, 2018 Lima Co. 3rd Bn/23rd Marine Regiment will depart Montgomery for a deployment to Afghanistan. The funds we are requesting will be used to provide a meal for the expected 300 family members who have come to see their young Marines as they board the busses and depart for deployment. The Townsend Detachment plans to provide a noon meal for the families so they can spend time together and get to know each other as their loved ones depart in service of their country.
While the Marines are away, League members will be available to assist families with problems their deployed Marines are not available to solve. Our support means a lot to these Marines and to their families. Your help will mean a lot to them.
