Synopsis:
LILY is a dramatic short film about April; a woman torn between love, self-worth and responsibility.

After a moment of weakness that shattered their relationship, April and her long-term partner Andy, are leaving town to start over.  As they pack up their belongings, we see just what April is willing to sacrifice in order to right her wrongs and keep her sense of security.

The day unfolds to reveal that April and Andy’s relationship is teeming with emotional manipulation and co-dependency. We find April’s self-worth to be wrapped up in Andy’s perceptions of her, both in life and in his art. Meanwhile her deep sense of guilt and duty to him will push her to surrender their life in exchange for one of Andy’s choosing.

Jude, Andy’s brother, comes to assist with the move and to collect what is rightfully his, in the process unearthing Andy and April’s insecurities.  Bad blood between the brothers reaches a boiling point and April finds herself caught in the crossfire.

Jude will leave with exactly what he came for. And as the dust settles, Andy and Jude will have resolved their differences. But ultimately it is April who will pay the price for their peace.
the day April and Andy move out of their artist studio and apartment, April is confronted with her life choices. She begins to question her unique relationship with her lover and his estranged brother.

The Project:
In the current state of the world, we felt compelled as a female writing and director team, to immerse ourselves into a story about co-dependency and emotional manipulation from a female’s perspective.

LILY is a story about the struggle intimacy and real human connection. We wanted to shed a small light on what we are willing to sacrifice as human beings, in order to feel safe and protected.

Through LILY we have created three characters, all lost in love and obligation. Their self-worth comes into question and their individual behaviors tell us a unique story on how family dynamics shape us as people.

The characters in our film are Artists. There are three pieces of art that are featured in "LILY' that reflect their relationships. We are excited to be working with Casey Baugh, who will will be creating these works of art.

CASEY BAUGH
Visual Artist

Baugh's work can be described as narrative impressionistic realism. Specializing in oil paint and charcoal, he began painting at the age of 13 and began selling professionally at age 17. When he was only 21 years old, Baugh began showing in galleries and after four years of studying with artist Richard Schmid, he had his first solo show at age 25. He has made several television appearances and has been featured on the covers of many publications, including The Artist's Magazine, American Artist's Magazine, and American Art Collector.
Baugh's art has evolved over time to become more narrative. Though still maintaining figures as his prime subject matter, he is telling more stories, and his series and exhibits are becoming more thematic. On a constant quest to push new boundaries, he is persistent in experimenting with his inspirations and artistic translations, pursuing more complicated compositions and achieving grander shows. Experience with electrical engineering as well as video and movie-making has attributed greatly in his use of props, set building, lighting, and translates to the overall harmony of his visual layouts.
Casey currently works and resides in New York City.
