Lighthaus: Earthquake Early Warning

We are incredibly honored to announce that Lighthaus Technologies has been selected to participate in the 2018 Clinton Global Initiative U Conference at the University of Chicago! In addition, Lighthaus has been selected to compete in this year's CGI U Commitments Challenge, where participants compete to raise the most money for their commitment/project. This fundraising competition lasts 31 days, between September 17th and Thursday, October 18th.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO WIN THE COMPETITION AND RAISE MONEY FOR EARTHQUAKE EARLY WARNING!
Every dollar you donate goes directly to Lighthaus Technologies to develop our earthquake early warning technology and help protect threatened communities all over the world. Right now, we are developing and testing prototype sensors, coding the detection and warning algorithms, and preparing our designs for manufacture. For this challenge, our goal is $23,000, which will be used to:
- purchase the materials and equipment we need to create and test a reliable, effective and robust beacon for homes
- allow our programmers, engineers, and designers to work more hours so they can bring Lighthaus to the public even faster
- design a beautiful, easy-to-use app for users to get their beacon set up and receive warnings
With your support, we can bring earthquake early warning to millions of people (including you!) that would otherwise be totally unaware when an earthquake is just moments away. Every contribution decreases the time it will take to get Lighthaus ready and into the homes of people that need it.

SUMMARY:
High-magnitude earthquakes threaten to derail communities all over the world, yet many countries, including the United States, have no system to warn the public in the critical moments before an earthquake strikes. With government programs still several years and millions of dollars from providing a solution, we decided to create one ourselves.
With Lighthaus, users sign up to place a small sensor (beacon) in their home and join an interconnected network of similar earthquake sensors in their area. Combined with novel AI and Machine Learning algorithms, our beacons are capable of detecting a major quake and sending a warning notification up to 30 seconds before the shaking starts. This can mean the difference between quickly getting you and your loved ones to a safe location out of harm's way, and being helplessly caught off guard.
