Light for Education - Nepal

Donation protected
Hi

In November, we will be heading to Nepal as volunteers to install solar panels on a school in Himalayas.

We are students currently studying Electrical Engineering in Melbourne - Australia. As part of a humanitarian engineering project, we are raising funds to provide the school with the opportunity to continuously supply electricity efficiently with a reliable and renewable energy source.

W are teaming up with the Himalayan Light Foundation, a non profit organisation that conducts many earthquake and disaster relief based projects for communities involving volunteers all over the world.  Their 'Solar Sister Program' offers a unique opportunity to install solar panel systems in rural communities.

Himal Darshan Secondary School, in Nechabetghari Village of Solukhambu has 734 students, 25 teachers and no electricity. They use a small generator which often breaks under harsh weather conditions and are in need of a reliable backup solar system to power desktops, printers and projectors.

For the school to operate each day it requires 2kW of power. All donations go towards funding the solar panels, two large batteries, an inverter, wiring and installation materials. For a good cause, a small donation would be greatly appreciated by us and the students and staff of Himal Darshan Secondary School.

Thank you,
Frankie, Jan & Chris.
