Community Solutions is a non-profit organisation, working with some of the most vulnerable and isolated members of the community. Social isolation has a huge impact on a person’s wellbeing and can lead to depression, self-neglect, and feelings of hopelessness. With our team of volunteers, we assist individuals through personal wellbeing support, social activities and training opportunities.
Our building is not as accessible as we would like. Having a lift to the first floor will provide us with opportunities to support more people.
Rachel’s Story
Rachel runs our reception desk each week and is a valued member of our team. She is unable to access the top floor of the building where our staff and volunteers are based. Being able to access the top floor would allow Rachel to feel more inclusive and enhance her volunteer role.
Barry’s Story
Barry has limited mobility due to the effects of a stroke. He continues to give back to the community and leads several of our groups. These groups provide an opportunity for people to take part in social activities and to make new friends. With increased access for Barry and the group members, more of our rooms would be used to support local people.
Gill’s Story
Gill is one of our telephone befrienders. Over 50 people rely on and look forward to her calls each week. She provides a valuable lifeline. Her contact may be the only conversation an individual has each week. Gill struggles to use our staircase. A lift would allow her to access our facilities safely and continue her amazing work.
We rely heavily on volunteers like Rachel, Gill and Barry and want to ensure that they have a truly inclusive experience. We have over 150 volunteers of all ages and backgrounds along with 100’s of people reliant on our services.
How will I be helping?
You will be helping us to raise £7000 for a lift. This lift will provide equal opportunity access to every part of our building, allowing the whole community to benefit from the valuable support that we provide. Your generous donation will help us to achieve our goal.
