Sophie's Fight Against Lymphoma

Meet Sophie, the 1 year old cockapoo, and my great friends Carrie and Kathleen's entire world. Sophie is a sweet, playful, and affectionate pup who has brought so much love into our life over this past year.

This December, Sophie was diagnosed with multi-centric lymphoma (cancer).  Sophie’s vet felt a mass on her side during a routine checkup and wanted to take her back for x-rays.  What they found was the presence of a cranial mediastinal mass (a large mass in her abdomen).  An abdominal ultrasound preformed the following day revealed that Sophie’s left kidney is swollen with fluid due to blockage from enlarged lymph nodes and a tumor mass is present on her kidney.  Cytology testing of a biopsy taken from Sophie’s lymph nodes confirmed her diagnosis.  Sophie is not able to receive chemo treatment at her regular vets office because of the complex and urgent nature of her case.  She has been referred to a specialty veterinary oncology practice, where she will receive 14 weeks of multi-agent chemotherapy.  Sophie will be seen by her oncologist once a week for a full exam and bloodwork prior to being cleared to receive each chemotherapy treatment. 

Her medical bills have begun to pile up and will continue to grow as she continues her chemotherapy treatment.
