Sean's Leukemia Fund - #Life4Sean

On October 26, 2015, my 23-year old son Sean was diagnosed with A.L.L. - Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a rare, aggressive, and rapidly growing form of cancer.

On June 20, 2017, After a long, hard, and courageous battle with Acute Lymphoblastic T-cell Leukemia, my beloved son, Sean Michael Lancaster (age 25), died this morning at 5:47am. He is now before the Lord of Glory with no more pain, no more tears, no more suffering. His prayer to experience the manifest glory of God has been answered and, though we miss him so very much, he now and forevermore will experience joy unspeakable, full of glory in the arms of the One who knew him best and loved him most.
He was such a faith-filled lover of God, and in gentleness led many closer to Him. He is truly a testimony of God’s love for so many.
Thank you for your prayers for my family at this time.
Please give us time to grieve and process through this.

Memorial Eulogy:
Sean Michael Lancaster - Legacy of Love
December 29, 1991 - June 20, 2017

I guess if I was to sum up in one sentence a eulogy for my son I would say "Sean left a legacy of love."
Sean's greatest dream on earth was to be a father, and though he did not experience the blessing of parenthood, he had a father's heart for many. At a very young age he heard Mike Bickle (International House of Prayer, Kansas City) exhorting young men: rather than looking for a man to father them, begin to father & mentor other young men.
Sean truly took that to heart and from a young age and led many with a father's heart of love.
Sean's nature and personality was that of an introvert, yet God created him to be a leader. And in his humanity and frailty, he led people with love and truth. He had a godly sense of justice.
He was quiet and thoughtful, yet he came alive with friends and family. He loved deeply and was loved greatly.
The great thing about being a natural leader is that he didn't have to push people to be lead, they just followed. He didn't think of himself as a leader he just was.
As everyone knows, Sean was a great adventurer. This was true from a very early age. He could go into a new town and make friends quickly; friendships that would last a lifetime.
He stood fast to truth, to the Word of God, and to a standard of righteousness. In his humanity he pointed many to that truth and love God. He didn't just believe in it, he lived it.
He was a trustworthy and loving friend, brother, uncle, grandson, and son.
During his last several months I had the opportunity to know my son on a deeper level, as an adult, and as a passionate human being.
Sean truly left a legacy of love that continues to bear fruit in our family, and so many others.

When he was diagnosed with cancer and admitted to the hospital he was extremely sick with pneumonia and almost died in the first few days there.
We were talking and he got angry and asked "mom why is God doing this to me?" And in the same breath he said "but I will love Him and serve Him every day of my life." I will never forget that. Not only was that a defining moment for Sean but what he said truly defined Who he is.
Throughout this 20-month battle with cancer, Sean fought hard, was so brave, and suffered so greatly.
But even in that suffering Sean never wavered in his faith in God, and his trust that God truly had Sean's life in His hands.
In the end he was at peace with God and at peace with death.

As I told Sean many times, I was so honored and blessed to call him my son, and so grateful to be given the privilege to be his mom. I will miss and do miss him beyond what I could ever express. I look forward to the day we meet again.

I love you Sean. Infinity and beyond!

The Story: On October 26, 2015, my 23-year old son Sean was diagnosed with A.L.L. - Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a rare, aggressive, and rapidly growing form of cancer.

      His life drastically changed overnight, as did our whole family. We wish we could say this is a short journey and easy "fix", but in fact this is just the beginning.
      His hospital stay began on October 27, the day after his diagnosis. After the first week in the hospital, which included a dangerous fight with pneumonia and other complications that delayed his cancer treatment, Sean had his first chemotherapy treatment on November 3, almost a week behind the doctor's anticipated start date.
     Sean’s last treatment for this 1st "round" of chemo is scheduled for December 1, when his 28-day protocol will be complete. He will have another bone marrow biopsy the following day to determine the success of this round, and will continue in the hospital until his blood levels have reached the minimum "safe" levels in order to be released.
     We are also waiting to get Bekah's blood test results, which will determine whether she is a match for bone marrow transplants for Sean. There's only a 25% chance of match so please pray for this! Depending on whether Bekah is a match will determine the next 3 to 5 years of treatments for Sean.
     Sean will continue with treatments for the following 6 months after round one, but we won't know whether he will return for in-patient or out-patient treatments until later.
     We are standing in faith for God to heal Sean, and trusting Him in this process.
     Jeremiah 29:11 says,
      “For I know the plans that I have for you,'
      declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and
      not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

     Just as the Lord is declaring this over Sean, so are we! My children and I, and their spouses and children are united in prayer, faith, and love, standing with Sean in every way possible in this battle. For us it's a journey of hope and love, stretching and tension, & faith mingled with tears.
     We want to thank you all for your prayers and financial gifts, and ask that you continue to pray, give if you are able, and share with others so they may have the opportunity to do the same.
     Lastly, I continue to declare Psalm 121 over Sean:

         1 “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
              From where shall my help come?”
         2 “My help comes from the LORD,
              Who made heaven and earth.”
         3 “He will not allow your foot to slip;
               He who keeps you will not slumber.”
         4 “Behold, He who keeps Israel
              Will neither slumber nor sleep.”
         5 “The LORD is your keeper;
                The LORD is your shade on your right hand.”
         6 “The sun will not smite you by day,
               Nor the moon by night.”
         7 “The LORD will protect you from all evil;
              He will keep your soul.”
         8 “The LORD will guard your going out and your
              Coming in from this time forth and forever.” Amen

               Thank you all!
