Life Saving Surgery for Riley-Jay

Donation protected

Many of you know Riley-Jay as my constant shadow and heart or as the Bay Quilts shop dog. She is an adventure loving, kissing obsessed, happy go lucky dog. She spends her week days with me at the shop and most weekends in the mountains or on a trail hiking over 10-15 miles and swimming with the fishes for hours. She has been my companion for the last 13 years and she means everything to me. Besides the tumor she has on her adrenal gland it is foreseeable that she still has a lot of time with quality memories and adventures to be made. Both of my vets and surgeon thinks she is a wonderful candidate for surgery because she is healthy, her blood panels came back looking strong and wonderful, and she is just as active as she was when she was 5.  I recently lost my other dog Barkley a few months ago to cancer and it was an extremely unexpected and a devastating experience…  Because I have the foresight with Riley-Jay I want to do everything I can for her while she is still here, healthy, and happy.  We have many more trails to leave our prints on, so many more lakes to discover and swim in, and thousands of kisses yet to be shared.

I brought Riley into the hospital in September to check her kidneys because she was diagnosed in January with kidney disease. I am happy to report that after 9 months of being fed 100% organic and raw food and going on some supplements, the ultra sounds showed her kidneys are back to functioning at a normal rate and we had nothing to worry about with her kidneys as long as she stayed on the organic diet and supplements. However, a large tumor was found pressing on her adrenal glands and is dumping cortisol and adrenaline into her body and putting her at risk for numerous problems.

Without surgery Riley’s quality of life is going to decline. The overall physical activity and adventures she loves will be limited because the adrenaline and cortisol could cause her heart to stop and organs to improperly function, along with an array of other complications and a life of being on medications.  It is imperative that I get her into surgery as soon as possible before the mass gets too large and becomes inoperable.

I was quoted $6,000-$8,000 for her surgery on top of the few thousand I’ve already paid for ultra sounds and different blood tests and analysis. The donations will be used for her surgery, medications needed to reduce the adrenaline and cortisol in her body before surgery for 2/3 weeks, blood tests and analysis, ultra sounds taken before and after surgery, and after care when the surgery is completed.

If you are unable to make a donation it would mean a lot to me if you could share this page and put Riley-Jay in your prayers. Keeping her in your thoughts and sending her love, light, positive energy, and protection means everything to me and is received with the deepest of gratitude.
