Mary Ann's Hope 4 Liberia's Future

This fundraiser will close on September 15th

As many of you know my sister Mary Ann passed away in a motor accident while doing missionary work in Liberia.  This fundraising campaign was her last act of kindness and my family and I would like to fulfill her final act.

You know how they say "give a man a fish, feed him for a day...teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime". Well, that's us in a nutshell. Except not with fish.

With pigs. And a trade. And sewing.

What is Liberia Mission?
Liberia Mission provides education to 435 Liberian youth. Located in West Africa we are a residential home for over 50 students who live with us full time, receive medical care, education, food and vocational training.
Started as an orphanage for victims of the civil war, we now have a large program made up of our own school of 370, a 20 acre farm, a piggery of 110 pigs, cows, goats, donkeys as well as running an afternoon school which provides each child with the trade of their choice; tailoring, construction or welding. When they graduate from our program if they do not wish to further their academia they have the option to use their trade.
Our Mission is about leadership. The farm, the piggery, the electric... the children do it all. They are learning to be responsible and to be the change that will bring sustainability and progress to their country.

So, what next?
School is out for summer. Some of our kids have nowhere to go and have no means of buying what they need to go back to school in September.
During these summer months, the students have the option to stay with us and put their skills to use. You know how you can mow the lawn or sell lemonade for a few bucks? Well...same here, we'll be repairing the cow fence, building a shelter for the animals, constructing a security booth, cutting grass, building a pork preparation room etc.

With this program, the children can go home at the end of the summer and help their families financially as well as buying their own materials to go back to school. If their parents need a new tin roof...they can help with that too!

Every penny raised goes directly to the students' summer work program!

Forwarding this to a friend can really help us!
