On Saturday March 16th 2019 an entire community lost an angel. Lia Ann Berardinelli, born January 7th 2006, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 13.
Lia was a beautiful young woman who loved dance, her family, and her friends. A young woman with a bright future and full of life and energy was taken away before she got to experience it.
She was fortunate to be part of a wonderful, loving family who is left to put the pieces of their life back together again. Her Father Richard, has honorably served his country for the last 23 years in the United States Army. When not serving his country, he serves his community as Vice President of the Green Knights Chapter 50, helping veterans causes and community interests.
Lia was also blessed with a loving mother Amber. When Amber is not carrying the massive load of a military family she is a nurse at Helen Hayes Hospital.
Lia leaves behind a sister, Gina 16 , and 2 bothers Scott 15 and Luka 8
No one should ever have to bury a child. Please help this heroic family in this time of extreme grief.

As President of the Green Knights Chapter 50, a military nonprofit organization out of Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh NY, I have started this fundraiser, along with the members of the Green Knights chapter 50 to cover the expenses incurred due to the loss of a beautiful little girl that has devastated an entire community. Your donations will help cover funeral, burial, and other cost this family may have during this incredibly hard time in their lives. Additional Funds will be used to start a Scholarship at the Step By Step Dance Studio located in Cornwall-On-Hudson NY in Lia's name so other children with her talent can embrace her love of dance.
I Theodore Tomita will be withdrawing the funds into the Green Knights Chapter 50 checking account. The Green Knights Chapter 50 will be using these funds to pay for the funeral expenses directly for the Berardinelli family as they requested. All remaining funds will be given to them directly via check from the Green Knights Chapter 50. The Green Knights Chapter 50 takes money donated and all money donated will be used as the Berardinelli family determines.
We come to you, God because we know that you sorrow, and are acquainted with grief. You too have endured the loss of a child. You empathize.
We can’t help but ask, “Why?” Forgive our insistence, our confusion, even our anger. We believe that you are just, and we ache to understand how this tragic death is an expression of that justice, how it expresses your love. We also know – in our minds at least – that you seldom answer the “why?” question. We press you, but on these matters you are mostly silent.
What we ask instead is “how?” How can we move forward? How can this bring us together and not tear us apart? How can we now live under the shadow of this untimely death? Answer this prayer with your comfort and guidance.
There is no way to remove the pain. The grief is real. The only sanity is to know, to believe, in a life beyond with you, when all the scales are righted and the sufferings are made good. We trust you and your promise that while this child’s life on earth is done, her life beyond has just begun. With that release we lose her and let her go into your arms, then by faith receive in return the boundless comfort of your presence. That is all, that is enough. In Jesus.”
