LGBTeach edcamp

Schools are often seen as a microcosm of the larger society. In recent years, we have read, seen, and heard about the increase in hate crimes against those who identify as, or are perceived to be, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer community.  This is not acceptable in our global arena and it is not acceptable in the space that is supposed to be safe for everyone: our schools.


This is why LGBTeach is so important. The LGBTeach Forum is recognizing its 7th year of providing educators, families, and community members with resources to create more inclusive, welcoming, and safe climates for all.  This year's forum will be Edcamp style, which empowers attendees by helping them to raise the questions or topics to be discussed that day. This will also be an opportunity for participants to share their struggles and their successes in this fight for equity, respect, and inclusivity.

 
You can be a part of LGBTeach edcamp by joining us for a day of discussion, making a donation, or both. LGBTeach edcamp is a full-day event and, as always, it is FREE for attendees. This is only possible through generous donations from people like you who choose to both donate and encourage others to donate. Over the years individuals such as Kevin Jennings and Eliza Byard of GLSEN, Hudson Taylor of Athlete Ally, and James Clemente of the Tyler Clementi Foundation have given their time and energy as keynote speakers. Hundreds of educators, community members, students, and parents have shared their ideas, practices, personal stories, and hopes for the future with those there to listen and engage. This event is about celebrating what schools and other community organizations are doing well, examining what institutions can improve upon, and learning from the past to create a present and future we can all be proud of.
