My name is Lewis Byng, I represent Stratford on Avon Athletics Club; I am approaching 18 years of age and have represented both England and Great Britain in athletics. Despite being diagnosed with High Functioning Autism and Tourette’s syndrome, I have found my talents in athletics.    My achievements for Shot Put:

2019 Achievements
* UK No1 for U20
* English Schools Athletics Champion
* U20 European Championship Boras Sweden (8th)
* U20 England Champion
* Only male athlete ever to win both the U20 & U23 Championships in the same weekend.
* 4th in the Senior Great Britain Athletics Trials 25.08.19
* Personal best as [email redacted] ranks me 2nd in the UK ALL TIME,   with a further year in the U20 to break the record.
* UK Age 17 indoor and outdoor All Time Record (6kg)

2018 Achievements
* UK No1 for U17
* English Schools Athletics Champion
*  U18 European Championship Gyor Hungary (7th)
* SIAB International Champion
* U17 England Champion
* U20 England Champion
* School Games Champion and Record
* Personal best as [email redacted] ranks me 3rd in the UK ALL TIME

I have been selected onto the GB Futures Athletics Program at the age of 17 years which is for up and coming athletes before hopefully moving onto the senior program where athletes like Jessica Ennis Hill, Mo Farah & Greg Rutherford competed.

My aim is to medal at the World U20 Championships (my last year in the junior ranks) in Kenya next year and then to look to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, as by then I will have had 2 years in the senior ranks.

I have been offered a place on a 10-day training camp in April 2020 at the Singapore Sports Institute where we will have access to state of the art facilities where they will be able to analyse everything I do both in terms of technique, position, training and physical output in order to highlight my strengths and also to pick up on my weaknesses to make me a better athlete.

In order to help fund this trip, my coach is organising a sponsored weight lift of 6,764kg in a morning session which is the distance from one of my training  bases in Northampton to Singapore. Given my size and my existing lifting I am proposing to lift the weights from Northampton to Singapore & back in that session 13,528kg which should take place in December 2019. I have set a plan to lift 14,200 kg.

I appreciate this is a crowd funding request and not for a charity, but most athletes have to juggle work, training and college study at the same time, but this comes at a cost, but it is a cost I am prepared to do to achieve my goals and make the Nation proud like that memorable night in London at the Olympics 2012 on that 'Special Saturday'. Even if you only read this article please take a moment to look at my newly created website at lewisbyng.com and my athletics profile can be viewed on Power of 10 statistics  https://www.thepowerof10.info/
