Dear friends and family of Daniel Lowery.
Daniel had to be admitted to Marshall Hospital on Friday, May 10 with a life threatening staph infection. He was in immense pain and his body was going into shock. It is still unknown exactly what caused this but the medical opinion is acute psoriasis and some sort of toxic exposure. He had to have surgery to clean out the infection. The hospital has gotten the worst of it under control with the surgery and antibiotics. He is responding well and seems to be “out of the woods” in terms of the extreme severity of the infection. He will hopefully be released from the hospital in the next few days. Unfortunately he will be incapacitated without the use of his hands (wound care said his hands are down “to the meat and nerve endings”) and feet, where the infection was most acute. He is slowly becoming able to bear weight on his feet but his hands have a long road to recovery. He will need to see many different specialists in the upcoming weeks. His life has been turned upside down by this.
Daniel is one of the hardest working people anyone could ever meet. He is a welder who commutes to the Bay Area (about 150 miles 1 way) every week for work. He is also the primary caretaker on the ranch the family lives on. His abilities and income are essential for the well-being of our family, and yet his ability to function has been abruptly and severely interrupted. Knowing Daniel, he will be back at it ASAP, but of course it’s going to take time to recover and return to normalcy.
This GoFundMe campaign has been set up to allow him time to heal without being overly stressed about the well being of his family’s needs being met.
Many people have asked “how can I help?” Honestly, donating anything you can to this campaign would be a huge help and greatly appreciated.
