Let’s Help Denise ... The Steet’s Journey Ahead

Donation protected
As a wife and a mother, when you receive the news that you have a life threatening diagnosis, your head spins and your insides crumble. And you pray. In that moment and those that follow, life is not the same.  As a mother to a high-need child when you receive a life threatening diagnosis -- that's when the real fear kicks in.

This fall, Denise Sestito - friend and loved one to so many of us - was diagnosed with breast cancer. While she's gone through multiple procedures to date, they have not been fully successful and she will undergo a double mastectomy, potentially followed by chemo,  in mid-January.

If you know Denise, you know two things about her. First, she is among the first who would show to help anyone, ANYONE in need. Second, she will pretty much NEVER ask for help herself.

When people have asked how they can help, she and her husband Jay are both overwhelmed and grateful -- but they really can use help.  Jay, or "Steets" as most of you know him, is self-employed. He's done work in and on many area homes. And he will need to take a lot of time off to care for and be with Denise in her recovery. Time that he won't get paid for. Which is why this campaign is being launched.

In terms of other things we can do to help ... because Denise and Jay's son, Dylan, has such severe food allergies, we cannot deliver prepared meals to their home.  And there aren't many restaurants they can order from. But there is Piezoni's, and Dyl is newly obsessed. So gift cards are always welcome, in addition to donations. Also, given that there will be frequent trips to and from the hospital,  gas cards are another welcome way to help. Feel free to contact me at [email redacted] if you would like to arrange that.

Thank you for helping Denise. Know that behind her brave face and positive exterior, she is scared beyond words. But the comfort and support of our community uplifts her and she and Jay so appreciate the kindness and love. And that support fuels their fight.  And they ARE fighters - Jay is a colon cancer survivor and Denise's mom, Karen, is a breast cancer survivor.

Please feel free to share this link broadly to anyone or group you know who would be interested in helping Denise.

Thank you.
