Let's Help Dave and Lynn Goheen

For those of us who have been blessed to know the love and generosity of Dave and Lynn Goheen, we have felt helpless watching them go through this last year. While they are both nurses, their caring and compassion goes beyond their jobs.
Their situation started when Lynn was going to have rotator cuff surgery and a routine mammogram revealed breast cancer. After her rotator cuff surgery, she then endured subsequent lumpectomies as treatment for the breast cancer, only to end up with bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction. Looking forward to her new set of "twins" on her chest, she quickly faced infections and complications which resulted in her losing her tissue expanders and months of wound care. Her positive attitude has been inspirational for many.
Although one cancer diagnosis is enough for any couple to face in a lifetime, their situation was compounded.
In October, Dave had a feeling something wasn't quite right. His left side began to tremor and a trip to the ER was in order. A CT scan revealed a mass on the right side of his brain with swelling. He underwent a craniotomy 3 days later and the pathology confirmed their suspicions. He was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. After his surgery and recovery, he transferred to rehab for a week and was released home. The residual effects from his surgery and tumor have left him with a weakened left leg (forcing him to walk with a walker) and driving restrictions. He recently finished radiation and remains on chemotherapy.
"Enough is enough already" is what I am sure you are thinking. Well, it wasn't.
On December 19th, Lynn was admitted to the hospital for feelings of shortness of breath and palpitations. Further testing revealed she had serious blockages in 3 of her coronary arteries. Open heart surgery was not an option for her due to the persistent open wound on her chest wall from her mastectomy. She underwent a cardiac cath with placement of 4 cardiac stents to her blocked arteries. She was released 8 days after being admitted to the hospital.
Dave and Lynn were optimistic for 2018, but again, another blow. Dave was found to have a DVT (blood clot) in his left leg and is now undergoing blood thinner injections. Lynn has yet another doctor appointment in February to help diagnose a lung nodule that was found during her workup for her shortness of breath. She is currently not working.
So, with a new year comes new financial burdens; new deductibles and new out of pockets. Not to mention medications, cardiac rehab; the list goes on. Dave and Lynn both remain positive and draw on their strong faith in the Lord.
Alleviating some of their financial stress would be a wonderful gift to this couple who have spent their lives giving to others.
