Let’s All Stand Behind Kathy Donovan

My very kind and loving sister Kathy is fighting cancer again. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 yrs ago. She had a lumpectomy and radiation and we thought she was in the clear; however, she was recently diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer. She had 3 new tumors found in October which were two different kinds of breast cancer, ductal and invasive carcinoma.
In November she underwent a mastectomy with reconstruction at which time they took her Lattisumus Dorsi muscle from her back and tunneled it to the front to supply blood flow to the area of her mastectomy. This was done mostly due to her previous radiation. Her recovery has been slow but progressive. She is getting ready to start physical therapy to help with movement and pain management.
Her lymph nodes were negative so she will not need radiation however her cancer growth rate was 35% which is high and she had high risk features within the tumors so she will be starting chemotherapy in January. We picked up her wig yesterday which was not an easy task.
Kathy has always been kind and giving. She loves her family and her friends and is willing to help anyone she can in their time of need. Today we cut her hair short in preparation for the start of chemotherapy next week. She wan't quite able to bring herself to shave it but she will be donating what we cut to try to help the next person in need of a wig.
Needless to say Kathy has not been able to work and will be unlikely to return for several more months. Unfortunately time does not stand still when we become ill and the bills start piling up and we have unusual added expenses such as gas to get to and from her frequent appointment and all the extras we don't think about like scarves/hats, trips to the ER to rule out blood clots, evaluate for infection, etc. I am hoping we can send some love and support to Kathy. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. Everything we can do to help and surround her with love is what is most important so she can focus on beating this thing. Please spread the word.
