Sanders, Mikaal and Dallas, three of our Youth Caucus Members who have been directly impacted by the juvenile justice and mental health system, would like to attend the NJJN (National Juvenile Justice Network ) 2018 Forum in Durham, NC, July 16-18.
Although two of our Youth Caucus Members, David and Jaleel, are attending through scholarships, we are in need of funding for three additional youth caucus members - Sanders, Mikaal and Dallas -
to attend the NJJN (National Juvenile Justice Network ) 2018 Forum in Durham, NC.
Please support them so they learn how to use their lived experiences to create change and develop leadership skills that will help them thrive as adults. No Amount is Too Small!
While our youth have the potential to be the greatest source of positive change in our juvenile justice system, they continue to be the missing dynamic in systems reform.
The annual event brings advocates together for youth justice reform training, networking, strategy-sharing -- and fun! The Forum will gather the youth justice reform community for workshops, interactive sessions and learning circles focused on achieving lasting change in our youth justice systems. As always, NJJN remains committed to placing those directly impacted by the system - families, young people, and communities of color - at the forefront of the movement.
Please make a difference in the lives of New Jersey youth by supporting the NJ Youth Caucus' travel expense to the NJJN forum. Many of our youth advocates feel that their voices are not heard and valued, and some are ashamed of their experiences.
HELP them to become empowered to make changes in their lives and communities to ensure that they are involved in all levels of decision making in their advocacy work, and that they learn how to use their lived experiences to create change, recover from trauma, and develop leadership skills that will help them thrive as adults.
