Help me buy a ventilator battery!

I'm still raising money to buy an 8 hour backup battery for my ventilator for working outside the house and to be prepared for the frequent power outages we have here. Thank you for donating, sharing, reposting!**

Six years ago, I moved to Maui to start a new chapter of my life and live in a climate where my body thrives. I recently graduated from real estate school and I'm eager to start my new career to help others find their dream homes on Maui. But there are initiation fees to pay, business cards to print and signs to make. And, because of my disability, I need to hire a driver to get me to showings.

Many systemic barriers discourage people with severe disabilities from entering the workplace. However I have learned that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to with hard work and help from my community of friends and family. I've traveled the world with my wheelchair and ventilator -- 30 countries in the last five years! I'm proud to have created two innovative public/private real estate projects that benefitted my Oregon communities: Zoomtopia Art and Dance Studios in Portland and the Midtown Arts Center in Eugene. My unique vision resulted in projects where the tenants provided the leadership and decision-making and — and received opportunity to own their space at an affordable price.

Your donation will help me get my Maui real estate career off the ground so that I can help create more opportunities for my new community. Any amount you give will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Following my fundraiser, I'll be sending out gifts of my artwork.

Donors who give $50 will receive a 3" x 5" woodblock print.
Donors who give $100 will receive a 4" x 6" woodblock print.
Donors who give $250 will receive a multicolor woodblock print.
Donors who give $500 or more will be able to commission a unique woodblock print of their choice, or 100 wedding invitations or occasion announcements on 5"x7" cards.

PS If I exceed my fundraising goal, I will use the additional funds to buy an external battery for the ventilator ($1500) that will allow me to be unplugged for 8 additional hours a day! This has become more urgent because where we live I have experienced power outages that have lasted for more than 18 hours. Being without power scares the hell out of me!
