Jeremiah Tobin is a husband, father, and grandfather. He is a veteran of the US Army and National Guard with many years of service to his country and community. Some people also know Jeremiah as a judo sensei who has been teaching Karate and Judo since 1964. He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. It is confined to the lung with a small nodule in the brain.

Until his diagnoses this past May, Jeremiah had been the picture of health, remaining extremely active into his retirement. He had been volunteering his time as a Judo instructor here in New Jersey right up until he began his chemotherapy  and radiation treatments. Thankfully, the prognosis has been encouraging and Jeremiah has successfully completed his first round of chemotherapy.  He is tolerating his treatments well and his spirits have never dampened throughout his medical battle. He is planning to continue with his students when he has beaten the disease.

Jeremiah and his wife Olga are on a fixed income. They have medicare but even with some help from the American Cancer Society and some charitable discounts from local hospitals the uncovered expenses are mounting. The current total is about $9000 and there is more treatment expected after his next six week protocol is done.

Every dollar will go to cover the mounting medical bills, and ease his mind, so he can focus on what’s important at this vital time: fighting for his life!

Jeremiah has completed his second round of treatment (chemo and radiation). He is scheduled for another round of scans from which his doctors will determine the next steps (an update on this page will follow). Through it all he has maintained good spirits and he is tolerating his treatments relatively well. The generosity you all have show has given Jeremiah and Olga tremendous peace of mind as they navigate this difficult chapter. They are very grateful for all of the support they have received including your prayers and good wishes. Thank you all so much for your donations and Happy Holidays!
