Let's Help Clarison Finish College!

The Story

I'm Kiley Albrecht, from Los Angeles, and I met Clarison Kiplimo through an organization I used to volunteer for when I was in college at UCSD called International Humanity Foundation (IHF). This fantastic organization provides safe homes, medical assistance, sustainable food sources, academic classes, and more to children who have lost their parents for various reasons. IHF's goal is to "educate the poor and teach the educated about the poor for a world of more enlightened and experienced "everyday people" - leaders working to reduce poverty and abuse." I know the founder/CEO and the finance manager, who are as wonderful as can be, and I know that all donations go straight to the kids.

When Clarison was young, his mother passed away, and he never knew his father. Shortly after his mother’s death, IHF’s children’s home took him in and he grew up there. I have been sponsoring and writing back and forth with him for the past 8 years or so and have seen him diligently excel in his studies and become a model leader.

Clarison is working to become a professional accountant. He wants to improve areas in his home of East Pokot, Kenya. In his words, he hopes to have a better life for himself and his family and to help the needy as well.

After working hard to finish secondary school (huge deal!), he became an Assistant Director at the center. He is hard-working, determined, always patient, and kind no matter what. The other kids see him as a role model they can trust.  Oh, and he loves soccer!

Recently, he was able to complete his diploma course in Business Management at St. Paul’s University in Kenya! I'm so proud. He's gotten so far, and he's only getting started!

As of now, while his friends have moved on to continue their education, Clarison has not been able to go with them due to finances. Getting work in his area is extremely tough, so education is vital right now.

His next goal is to get the degree in Business Information Technology at St. Paul's University in Kenya and he needs to submit tuition asap!

There's only so much we can do from so far away to help his community, but his getting an education can result in the biggest, longest-lasting benefit for not only him, but also his entire region's economy (and of course all those he personally helps and inspires).

The tuition is $850 per semester ($2,550 per year x three years = $7,650 total for degree).

Clarison always inspires me with his drive and positivity. He's always checking in on me, and, even on his worst days, he remains optimistic and open to all the greatness our world has to offer. I want the best for him, and I can't wait to see the amazing things he'll continue to do.

Thank you everyone so much.  Even if you can't contribute to the fund, please help spread the word or just send some good thoughts his way!
