Help Bonnie J stay mobile!

Meet my friend Bonnie J  . . .

Bonnie J was born with cerebral palsy.  We met in elementary school (Alexandria, VA) when we were about eight.  The only thing that makes Bonnie J's body different from mine is that she was robbed of oxygen for 4.5 minutes.  Our lives converged as kids, then diverged (rinse and repeat) and have converged again.  Never have we left each other's hearts.

Bonnie J has always been fiercely independent, thanks to her dad, her intelligence, bravery and extraordinary spirit.  Please help her  stay mobile!

A motorized wheel chair is her "legs" - the way she can move around her apartment, get to the mail box,  local shops, public transportation, air travel ... she does her life in a chair.

The old motorized chair that is her mobility has died.  The cost to replace the two motors is estimated at $1,600.

She is in the process of applying for her new wheel chair which is paid for through Medicare, but the process is involved and may take months.

She received her rented motorized wheel chair at the beginning of December so is mobile again, but she has to pay for it out of pocket for an estimated $2,580 for six months.  If she receives the repaired or new chair before six months, the extra funds will be used for maintenance like new tires, tune-ups.

The funds will be used to pay for the rental wheel chair until she receives a working one, and also pay for the repair to the old chair so she'll have a spare.

For Bonnie J and all of us who love her, reliable mobility means everything.

Gratitude.
