Leslie's Lift-off to an Artful Life

MY STORY:

Three years ago I quit my art teaching job in Cashiers, NC and moved to Asheville –  to find myself and to step  on to my path of being an artist.  In that time I’ve done some good work in that direction.  I set up a studio space in the river arts district.  I received a full scholarship to a wood sculpture class at Penland last year.  I took another class at Penland in table making with a work study grant. I started up my website – leslierosenbergart.com.  And I have a show coming up in West Asheville next November at a place called Odd’s café!

My dream, my bliss, is to be an artist, to work with my hands and create on a daily basis, showing, and teaching this craft.  I work with wood.  I sculpt it, paint it, and carve it.  And while I have lots of ideas, I still need the basic woodworking skills to pull them off.

Enter the perfect class – It’s called Basic Woodworking.  It’s a class with superb artist Sylvie Rosenthal at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen Colorado.  I applied for a scholarship for it and received about $1000.   Still there are material fees, transportation, and housing to cover.  I am asking for help to cover these expenses.

I see this class as a launch into my life as an artist, not just another workshop.   And while I still need to pay the bills and hold down a job, I am shifting my focus towards creating and making. The very act of asking my friends and family to support me on this journey makes this a milestone.  This is my campaign to live my life fully, and share it with others.  I hope you see this as a joint venture- a chance for you to support me and also be inspired to follow your own bliss.

I need your help to do this, both monetarily and emotionally.   Any amount is helpful – $5, $10, more if you like!  A supportive nudge would be appreciated!

What you will receive for your generous donation:
$1-$19 A Wooden Artsy Postcard
$20-$49 A Relief Print
$50-$99 A Pair of earrings or set of 4 coasters- you choose
$100 and Above A Carved and painted piece

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  A thousand times!

Much love,
Leslie

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.”
